MOSCOW, Sept 20 (Askume) – Russia said on Friday the West was blatantly pressuring China over the Taiwan issue and its “provocative” behaviour undermines regional stability and international security.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters that Moscow supports China’s actions to defend its sovereignty.
China’s Ministry of National Defense said on Friday that US arms sales to Taiwan seriously violated China’s “one-China principle” and the provisions of the China-US joint communiqué.
China on Wednesday announced action against nine companies linked to the US military over the sale of American weapons to Taiwan.
As Russia fights NATO-supplied Ukrainian forces and China faces pressure from the United States to coordinate efforts to counter its growing military and economic power, the two countries have increasingly found common geopolitical goals.
