MADRID, Sept 19 (Askume) – Spain’s foreign ministry condemned this week’s attacks on mobile communications equipment used by members of Lebanon’s Hezbollah group, saying they violated international humanitarian law and threatened the stability of the region.

“We call on all parties to exercise restraint,” the foreign ministry said in a statement. “This is necessary to prevent further escalation of violence and to avoid the risk of unpredictable consequences of open war.”

Spain’s condemnation came hours after Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Madrid.
