AMSTERDAM, Sept 9 (Askume) – A Dutch court said on Monday two Pakistani political leaders had been convicted of the murder of anti-Muslim lawmaker Geert Wilders, although both were believed to be abroad and were unlikely to be sentenced.

Wilders, whose party won a clear election victory, joined government for the first time this year.

A 56-year-old man, described as a Pakistani political and religious leader, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for attempted murder, actual provocation and threats with terrorist intent, the Hague District Court said in a statement.

The court did not name him or the other man or give details of their political activities. Both were sentenced in absentia.

A 29-year-old “political leader” from Pakistan has been sentenced to four years in jail for inciting murder and issuing threats, the court said.

In February, a court said the pair were accused of publicly asking people to kill Wilders, promising them they would be rewarded in the afterlife if they did.

Last September, a Dutch court sentenced a former Pakistan cricketer to 12 years in jail after trying him in absentia for publicly urging people to kill Wilders.

The Netherlands has no extradition treaty with Pakistan.
